Gilles Bernies’ debut release ‘Abstract’ captured the attention of some notable DJ’s and tastemakers around the world. Argentina’s premier online radio station Futur Rock dropped ‘Abstract’ on their “Argentina Electronica’ Program while the release featured in the Beatport Hype Melodic House & techno Hype Charts.

His next release is a two tracker which defines another chapter in his musical journey. ‘Signals’ is a powerful melodic track that washes you away into a dream like state. A wonderfully warm and balanced composition with more space in between sounds, the track recedes into a magical breakdown from which the melody emerges. ‘Breakwater’ is almost tribal in nature, both epic and bold. Gilles atmospheric vocals cry out in the background conjouring an almost mystical presence from within.

Mount Mike continues to build momentum with a string of Beatport chartings and his most recent release ‘Giddha’ being featured in the Minimal Techno 2019 Spotify playlist. With an EP scheduled later in the year Mount Mike looks set for a big 2020 in his new home base Vancouver.

“The Masai Mara is a national reserve in Kenya where I was lucky enough to go on safari in my teen years. A very beautiful place filled with a dusty savannah or two – just the kind of space I envision with this track.”

– Mount Mike

We are very happy to welcome our first European artist to the label. German/French musician and DJ Gilles Bernies is a young rising talent who’s passion and dedication to his craft is exemplary. A classically trained pianist and bass guitarist Gilles has focused exclusively on electronic music production and performance for the past 2 years.

His music is melodic and features his unique atmospheric vocals. Naturally ‘Abstract’ is in every sense of the meaning only part of the composition. however we can begin to understand and determine something of the artists musical form and intent. Despite being orienteered towards grand, open air surroundings it is the contrast in the instrumentation and dynamics – from the dominating staccato leads, driving bass and vocal cries to the subtler counter melodies and ambience, that reflect a confident artistic vision. As the drums subside into a breakdown, the moment reveals an honest nature, one that holds out both hands in welcome.

Of noteworthy mention, the artwork used for Abstract is a painting by German designer Ilka Rehberger. We look forward to seeing more of her work accompany future Bernies releases!

Support from Patrick Topping, CamelPhat, Rex The Dog, Anna Lunoe, James Zabiela, Spacey Space.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Melbourne duo Market Memories to the label. Their DJ sets are emblematic of the Melbourne music culture and the same can be said of their upcoming productions.

After causing a stir with their huge remix of ‘Faces of Meth’, Market Memories much anticipated debut original release ‘A Good One’ encapsulates an electric party vibe, true to the essence of MM. The hook and rhythmic lead are complemented by a musical arrangement that ebbs and flows, inviting the audience into that special moment where memories are made.

On remix duties the boys personally enlisted the services of Melbourne underground dance rock legend T-Rek. You can be forgiven if you get up and start head banging to this one, we get the feeling that this is exactly the desired intention. Added to the fray of distorted guitars and thumping kick drum is a vocal. A good one.

Too finish off the release Olly Davis comes to the party with a tech mix. His finesse and musicality with his remix is all class and it is no surprise that he has had garnered support from the likes of Carl Cox, Patrick Topping, Stacey Pullen, Joris Voorn and Joseph Capriati.

Today, Nick Coleman’s hit Faces of Meth continues to be played in clubs and festivals around the world. The anthem was voted into the IntheMix Top 100 Greatest Australian Dance songs of all time and remained in the ARIA club charts for an astonishing 37 weeks, finishing at number 11 in the Top 50 Club Tracks of 2008. 2019 will see three new official remixes of the club club track plus, a promo only exclusive download link to the original stems.

A not so secret weapon for their own sets, The Market Memories main stage mix has rocked festivals and clubs over the Australian summer. This modern update delivers in every respect and has been a highlight of the MM boys sets at the Beyond the Valley and Rainbow Serpent festivals amongst others. We have never received so many requests asking for a copy of any track prior to release! You only have to check out this footage of the boys playing it for the first time at BYO to see why! https://www.facebook.com/marketmemoriesmusic/videos/220361865552011/

Holmes John is on fire at the moment, with tracks sitting in the Beatport Tech House Top 10 Charts and global support from tastemakers Fisher, Jacky, The Aston Shuffle, Mark Knight, Dom Dolla, Roger Sanchez, Yousef, Mihalis Safras, Maximono & Paul Woolford. His mix is surely going to wreak havoc across European and US festivals in the upcoming summer. This massive techno version is perfectly executed and is a testament to Holme’s exceptional production and arrangement skills.

Made In Paris has toured the US, been a Triple J Mix Up resident and has had support from techno luminaries Sven Vath, Maceo Plex and Tiga. Her remix is a darker seductive remix. The highlight of this version is the abbreviation of the main theme. It leaves the call without a response which entices the listener to follow or answer the question in another way, whilst invoking a similar mystique to that of the Coleman’s original.

After the success of Mike’s first two releases on Suckmusic – Headlights & Tapelines – he’s back with another belter that we’re certainly feeling good about. Giddha is Mike’s first track to feature vocals and there’s a little bit of a twist as the lyrics are in Punjabi.
“I stumbled across some enchanting vocal samples from India and quickly reimagined a dance floor version which once I started workshopping came together very quickly and really kept my hips moving!” – Mount Mike

After the success of Mike’s debut release on Suckmusic – Headlights – which peaked at #5 on Beatport’s overall releases chart and hit #2 on the Deep House releases chart, we’re delighted to present his follow up track – Tapelines. This number sees the Melbourne producer take a step further in developing his own sonic voice and has been exciting dance floors around Melbourne for the past few months. Electronic Groove

“I’d been listening to a lot of Paul Ursin’s catalogue and really wanted to create something with a bit more grit and slap than my previous tracks. I started experimenting with some kooky samples and field recordings as I like to try and create the feeling of a physical place or space with my music but it wasn’t until I read a Jon Hopkins interview about the making of his new album that I had the inspiration to finish the track. The interview talked about crafting different sounds in a way that they evolve and meld together to the point where you can’t tell where one sound begins and the next sound ends so I set out to try and achieve something similar with the breakdown of this track” – Mount Mike
