This mix from Nick Jones grabbed our attention at Suck headquarters, one person in particular couldn’t stop raving about it (calm down NColeman!). You can catch Nick at Circus, 161 Fridays, Wah Wah, Revolver, Killing Time, Miss Libertine & The Likes Of You parties. He also co-host a weekly Thursday show (12:30pm) on KissFM alongside fellow DJ’s Mitch Kurz and Tom Evans.

Sunshine has been a fixture of the Melbourne scene for almost 10 years. Earning her stripes in a myriad of different spaces around town, she’s created a sound that is truly her own. What gives her the edge is sheer versatility – you’re just as likely to hear bleeding-edge techno alongside underground R&B or soul ‘n’ jazz in the space of one beer. It’s hard to categorise, but it sure ain’t coming from anyone else.

At just 19 years old Melbourne producers Momo & Trav are pumping out some wicked techno, tech house, minimal tech, or as we like to call it, dance music. It seems that TFU is a breeding ground for Melbourne dance music producers, and it is no surprise that these guys have a weekly residency, a set that often consists entirely of original music. With releases coming out on iconic label Bush Records, and many fine productions on Fanfare Records, the future looks promising for these hard working young talents.

The music for this CD was originally compiled, licensed and mixed for commercial release in late 2008. Due to the global financial crisis’ impact on record labels/distributors etc, its release was postponed several times, and ultimately canceled. I put a lot of work into the mix at the time, and thought it was a shame to see it go to waste, so decided to press up a bunch of copies myself and give them away. The kind folks at Poison Apple then came to the party and helped me get it out to people. So what you have here in your hand is effectively what was to be the fourth installment in my ‘Freakshow Disco’ series of mix CDs. Hope you enjoy it, T-Rek

ThisCityILove is Nick Coleman‘s second original release. South African voices, Detroit rhythms and Berlin strings reflect the unique appreciation Melbourne has for all music styles. The track instantly captured the attention of the Techno astute including DJ Hell on his recent tour. He immediately licensed the track to his Berlin label International DeeJay Gigolos. It is the opening track of disc 2 on the upcoming International DeeJay Gigolos CD 12, scheduled for release on June 15th, 2010.
