SUK095 | Rem Siman – Sin EP

19th February 2021

Rem Siman’s debut release ‘Supa Shine’ on Suckmusic last year was impressive. Supported by legendary Melbourne DJ Spacey Space who featured the title track on his Suckmusic 10 Year DJ mix, both tracks from his first EP now sit in the label’s Top 10 on Beatport.

His follow up, another two track EP – Sin / Dusty Boy, reveals an artist who’s musical emotion will not be confined to a genre, rather defined by the power, energy and character of his spirit. A mature attribute for an emerging producer/DJ.

In a year that has limited the performance opportunities of artists around the world, Mount Mike has been able to externalise his musical expression through a series of location-based DJ streams, broadcast from some of the most beautiful places in British Columbia.

These wonderfully produced DJ streams give us a sense that Canada is beginning to feel like a second home for Mount Mike. His productions, collaborations with like minded BC artists and recent success with a Beatport Top 10 Indie Chart also point to an artist who is feelin’ good about where he is at. So it is with great pleasure that we present his next EP on Suckmusic ‘Queen of Hearts’.

“Written during the peak of COVID lockdown here in Vancouver, I found this time period to be a blessing. Among other reasons it was a great time for me to slow down and connect with my wife and during those Spring months we built a big veggie garden together. The tracks on this release were inspired by sunny days in our backyard planting garlic and listening to Stimming’s new EP. Many of the percussion sounds in these tracks were sampled during the garden’s construction & the melodies drawn from the uncertainty of the time” – Mount Mike

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Rem Siman to Suckmusic. Drawing from his family’s musical background and his experience playing the tenor sax as a teenager throughout high school, Rem began his digital audio journey at age 17 in Melbourne, Australia.

He spent four years in the USA, playing college basketball, studying Economics & Finance while continuing to develop his electronic dance music productions. His debut EP is out now and a taste of things to come. Stay tuned!

SUK83 | Suckmusic 10 Years

14th August 2020

The unprecedented circumstances the world has faced this year as a result of COVID-19 have impacted every aspect of our lives and changed the world as we know it.  It is still uncertain when things will begin to resemble some sort of normality in the music and hospitality industry and then, once it eventually gets going, what that will look, feel and sound like. it.

As a record label we will continue to do what we have been doing for the past 10 years and release new and interesting music. Given that most of the label and artist income is generated from the performance of our songs by DJ’s who play the songs at clubs and festivals, our artists have seen their income decimated as these events have ground to a halt. Many artists have also been overlooked by governments and most do not received any kind of income support despite the challenges they now face. Therefore at Suckmusic we will look to exhaust all alternative avenues to support artists signed to our label through this extremely challenging time.

We understand that many people are doing it tough at the moment, but if you have enjoyed our music over the years or can appreciate and respect just how important a vibrant electronic music culture is and you have a little to spare, your support will mean everything and will help our artists make ends meet until the show literally gets back on the road and income starts coming back in again. Every person who donates will be invited to join our exclusive Suckmusic Pre-release Promotional List and be granted early access to all future label releases for the next 10 years, along with download links to the Suckmusic 10 Year DJ mixes upon its release in August. GoFundMe Campaign

The funds we received will be distributed equally between the 8 artists who have an agreement with the label (excluding label founder Nick Coleman who is also a signed artist), and we hope to achieve our goal of $10,000 by October.

In addition, to mark our 10th year in what has been an extraordinary 2020, we briefly pause for reflection before looking into the future. So it is with the greatest of pleasure that we present to you the labels first mix compilation – Suckmusic 10 Years. This compilation of music, presented in the form of 2 DJ mixes and a Coda, embodies everything the label was, is and will continue to be. A big thank you to Spacey Space, Mount Mike and label founder Nick Coleman, who’s mixes encapsulate the musical depth and diversity of the label’s 150+ song catalogue and first 10 years.

For the remainder of 2020, 100 percent of Suckmusic’s share of sales of this compilation will be donated to all artists who’s songs appear on the Suckmusic 10 Year mix compilations.

Thank you and party on.

It has been a big 2019 for us and now it is time for a well earned break. We hope you are having a great holiday season and have a happy and safe New Year. Thanks for all your support and we look forward to joining you in 2020!

We sign off the year with Heath Renata’s remix of Market Memories ‘A Good One’.  Without question our biggest release of the year, Heath’s summer vibes remix has been a feature of his morning sets at Melbourne institute Tramp bar.

Still sitting in the ARIA Top 50 Club Charts after 14 weeks, Market Memories debut track ‘A Good One’ continues to rock party goers around the world. Support from Patrick Topping, Camelphat, Christoph and Rex The Dog saw the track played at some of the biggest European festivals, clubs and radio networks including Tomorrowland, Kappa Futur Festival, DC10, Glastonbury & BBC Radio 1.

Market Memories follow up is two track EP The Charm. Offering us a deeper insight into their sound, our attention is directed to a more intimate and emotive state, while still maintaining a powerful and driving dance floor presence.

The Charm immediately conjures a familiar sense of hypnotic intensity and energy. Its catchy rhythmic lead synth and intriguing female vocal tell the story of the night. A well executed arrangement ensures a wave of appreciation over the chordal exposition before dropping back into the serious body moving elements.

It feels like you are at an open air festival or a half moon jungle party on Koh Phangan as birds, toms and shakers set the mood for Two Good. The swell of emotion rises quickly into a thematic interplay as Bells and Acid exchange the lead Motiv role. As the track builds momentum a sense of freedom and good will washes over and reminds us that life is indeed too good 😉 Much love MM xx

We are very happy to welcome our first European artist to the label. German/French musician and DJ Gilles Bernies is a young rising talent who’s passion and dedication to his craft is exemplary. A classically trained pianist and bass guitarist Gilles has focused exclusively on electronic music production and performance for the past 2 years.

His music is melodic and features his unique atmospheric vocals. Naturally ‘Abstract’ is in every sense of the meaning only part of the composition. however we can begin to understand and determine something of the artists musical form and intent. Despite being orienteered towards grand, open air surroundings it is the contrast in the instrumentation and dynamics – from the dominating staccato leads, driving bass and vocal cries to the subtler counter melodies and ambience, that reflect a confident artistic vision. As the drums subside into a breakdown, the moment reveals an honest nature, one that holds out both hands in welcome.

Of noteworthy mention, the artwork used for Abstract is a painting by German designer Ilka Rehberger. We look forward to seeing more of her work accompany future Bernies releases!

Support from Patrick Topping, CamelPhat, Rex The Dog, Anna Lunoe, James Zabiela, Spacey Space.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Melbourne duo Market Memories to the label. Their DJ sets are emblematic of the Melbourne music culture and the same can be said of their upcoming productions.

After causing a stir with their huge remix of ‘Faces of Meth’, Market Memories much anticipated debut original release ‘A Good One’ encapsulates an electric party vibe, true to the essence of MM. The hook and rhythmic lead are complemented by a musical arrangement that ebbs and flows, inviting the audience into that special moment where memories are made.

On remix duties the boys personally enlisted the services of Melbourne underground dance rock legend T-Rek. You can be forgiven if you get up and start head banging to this one, we get the feeling that this is exactly the desired intention. Added to the fray of distorted guitars and thumping kick drum is a vocal. A good one.

Too finish off the release Olly Davis comes to the party with a tech mix. His finesse and musicality with his remix is all class and it is no surprise that he has had garnered support from the likes of Carl Cox, Patrick Topping, Stacey Pullen, Joris Voorn and Joseph Capriati.
