It’s been a turbulent build for Melbourne based DJ/Producer Stevie Mink. From what began as an interest in collecting vinyl & online synthesizer tutorials, soon turned into a growing obsession for dance music, and the launch of a career closely followed by thousands today.
Like many other young musicians starting out in the industry, Mink furthered his development by creating bootlegs & mashups, due to constant requests for re-edits from close friends. And in 2009, with his first ever remix ‘Regulate’ hitting the club scene, and a startling fan base beginning to form, Stevie Mink was born.
Since then, Mink has gone on to remix some of the biggest dance releases for Melbourne over the last few years, including T-Rek’s 2010 release ‘Out My Bitch’, reaching a staggering #34 on the Beatport Electro House chart, and ‘Devils Claps’, also reaching a solid 14th place on the Beatport Electro House chart.
Alongside his production, Stevie Mink has developed a strong DJ career. His support of international artists such as Phil Kieran, Hatiras, Spektre, Angy Kore, and Nadastrom, as well as recent gigs in both New Zealand and Queensland, proves it’s not just his production generating interest throughout Australia.
Wrapping up the last year, Mink has played at some of the biggest music festivals Melbourne has to offer such as Summerdayze, Future Music Festival, Winter Sound System, & Creamfields.
Kicking off 2011 has seen Mink’s remix of D12’s ‘Purple Pills’ featuring Melbourne singer Katt Niall hit airways nationally on Nova100’s ‘Novanation’, as well as the release of his first original track ‘Now Drop’, out on Suckmusic. With 2 new releases set to come out on Eric Powell’s Bush Records in 2011, things are continuing to move on & up.
And don’t let his few short years fool you, there’s no limit for the fresh faced music maestro, guaranteed to set new standards in the Australian music industry.
